About us

YDAP Sunderland is a service which offers help and advice about alcohol and drugs for young people, parents or carers.

We work with young people up to the age of 18, or up to the age of 25 if you are care experienced, on a 1-1 basis.

We take a child first approach so we listen to the young person and be led by them in everything that we do. We will never force a young person to reduce or quit alcohol or drugs but we will always encourage this.
We aim to work holistically and provide support around all areas of a young person’s life not just their alcohol or drug use.
This could be things like helping the young person access health or emotional wellbeing support, to get back into education or to improve their relationships with friends or parent/carers.
We are a diverse and dynamic team of individuals of varying ages and genders; all of which are skilled at helping people feel comfortable and developing trusting relationships. We also have a nurse, a mental health nurse (CAMHS), and counsellor on board.
We deliver targeted groupwork across the Sunderland area to groups of young people at risk of alcohol or substance use. As part of this offer we deliver groupwork in educational establishments and youth groups. Targeted groupwork is by request so please fill in a contact form and we will be in touch.
We also offer free alcohol and drug training to professionals. Please contact us if this is something you are interested in.
